About Us

HLR groups produces high quality recyclates from local post consumer plastic waste for reuse, helping to solve India’s plastic waste problem and to advance the circular economy

For the last 15 years, HLR groups has been a critical part of the reincarnation of plastic in India by maximising the value of PET and Polyolefin plastic waste. We are one of the major plastic recyclers in the nation.

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), most commonly in the form of plastic bottles, accounts for over 10% of plastic waste in India. Although 90% of this is collected and recycled, it is channeled towards traditional applications, resulting in low levels of circularity. By moving beyond these practices of downcycling PET and through the adoption of technology, HLR groups produces high quality recycled PET (rPET) as well as a variety of Polyolefin’s (Polypropylene and Polyethylene) flakes and granules serving industries across fashion and consumer packaging, material handling and industrial packaging.

We are also well positioned to lead the way in developing food-grade applications, which are currently under development. This will help achieve maximum value for the plastic waste collected, fostering plastic circularity, and benefiting the entire value chain.

Impact

Impact begins on the ground.

We started with a dozen employees, now we have over 200.

We collect post-consumer plastic from more than 70 aggregators.

We indirectly support the livelihoods of 20,000 informal sector workers each day.

The real circular economy journey begins when a bottle is disposed. A vast network of people who pick this trash up form a crucial link in the chain. India has as an informal economy and a sea of agents and aggregators at this stage alone. We realised that the key to meaningful impact was establishing a more stable supply chain and a circular recycling industry.

At Dalmia, forming stronger relationships with our team on the ground is integral to our work. Our collectors, aggregators and processors receive fair wages with benefits and incentives, we constantly innovate to build these bonds in meaningful and impactful ways.
